Overview

Golden Wok, located at 8822 Wurzbach Rd in San Antonio, stands out as an inviting Chinese restaurant that balances traditional flavors with a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant’s charm begins with its thoughtful design—guests are greeted by a serene koi pond and a bridge, setting a calming tone before even stepping inside. The open kitchen concept is a highlight, offering diners a firsthand look at chefs crafting each dish with care and skill.

The menu is diverse, catering to both classic Chinese cuisine enthusiasts and those seeking a bit of variety. Signature dishes such as General TSO Chicken, Moo Goo Gai Pan, and Peking Duck showcase authentic flavors and artful preparation. For those who appreciate a lighter, refreshing touch, the Lemon Chicken Lunch Special and the Combination Fried Rice offer balanced tastes suitable for any meal. Dim sum lovers will be pleased with options like Lai Wong Bao and shrimp rice noodle rolls, served alongside traditional favorites including har gow and sui mai. The inclusion of Pad Thai Noodle and other stir fry options broadens the appeal, resisting confinement to just one regional taste of Asia.

Golden Wok also caters to guests wanting to personalize their experience, with offerings such as “Create Your Own Stir Fry.” This option allows diners to mix fresh ingredients to suit their preferences, reflecting the restaurant’s flexible approach to traditional Chinese cooking.

The experience is enhanced by attentive and cheerful staff, well noted by customers for their friendliness and readiness to assist with ordering or recommendations. The bar menu complements the meal, featuring a selection of vodkas and gins that pair well with the food and atmosphere, though the focus remains firmly on the culinary delights.

Targeted equally at families, couples, and those seeking a relaxed dining environment, Golden Wok manages to blend the vibrancy of Asian flavors with a tranquil setting. Whether visiting for a casual lunch or a leisurely evening meal, guests are met with consistent quality and a genuine welcome. Though some have mentioned smaller portion sizes and minor hiccups, overall feedback celebrates the freshness and authenticity of the cuisine.

In summary, Golden Wok offers more than just Chinese food; it presents a cultural experience marked by culinary transparency, variety, and thoughtful hospitality. Its location in San Antonio makes it a reliable destination for those craving well-prepared Chinese classics in a comfortable, aesthetically pleasing setting.

Omg! I love the chicken lo mein!! It was cooked fresh, my husband had the walnut shrimp he just didn’t like the shrimp had the long tail on it, and his steamed rice had a curly hair in it, lol He didn’t want to send it back even though I told him to

Great Asian food restaurant. Cheerful staff, always eager to assist with ordering and suggesting their delicious food. Their chicken pad Thai is real good, my go to. My wife loves the island fried rice with chicken, includes shredded carrots, coconut, egg, raisins and peanuts. They have a light refreshing beer called Lucky Buddha to wash it all down with. Kitchen sits front and center where you can see the chefs prepare the food. Asian atmosphere. Check out their Dim Sum. Entrance with bridge over looking koi pond. Beautiful place... you need to go there.

Came here on a Saturday at 11am. We ordered chrysanthemum tea and had some dim sum. Customer service was great and food was good. We had har gow, sui mai, chicken feet, tripe, scallop dumplings, snow pea leaves, and shrimp rice noodle rolls (not in the picture).
